Little Harries Cottage is perfect for a family break and there is plenty of room for the dog too. The property is tucked away down a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Ripon and yet is just 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of the city where you will find our majestic Cathedral, museums, bars, restaurants, shops and cafes.
Little Harries Cottage has fenced gardens all around, with a paddock (home to several horses) to one side, and is surrounded by fields and farming land. It is a gem of a place, offering privacy, peace, and plenty of space for the children and family dog to run around outside safely in the enclosed garden.
The property itself is spacious, sleeps six people, and has three bedrooms – 2 double rooms, and a room with bunk beds for kids big and small! There is a travel cot and a highchair available for guests, if required.
The room with the bunk beds overlooks the large lawned garden and fields beyond, where sheep are often grazing.
To the right hand side of the house, there is a paddock and stables, where horses are usually out, enjoying the open space. It really is a great place to be if you are used to living in a busy town or city.
There is a large table for eating together in the well-equipped kitchen, as well as a dining room that doubles up as a room for playing board games (a few of which are supplied). The lounge has a smart TV, so you can catch up on your favourite program, browse on YouTube, or put the latest Netflix film on for the kids.
The dining room is perfect for a family games evening. For longer stays, there is ample cupboard space in here for storing cases, pushchairs and toys.
There are plenty of rabbits, inside and out!
The well-equipped kitchen has a toaster, kettle, large fridge (with freezer small compartment), a dishwasher, top-loader washing machine, cookware, and plenty of dishes, plates and cutlery. Washing up liquid, a tea towel, dishcloth, and sponge are all provided, as are some complimentary dishwasher and laundry tabs.
We supply all bed linen, bath and hand towels. The complimentary toiletries are Sea Kelp from Fine Scottish Soaps – soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. These luxury products are perfect for sensitive skin and are dermatologically tested.

We liked the semi-rural location, there was plenty of downstairs space and parking, the welcome pack of goodies included a pint of milk. The information folder was very clear and informative, we liked the QR code for the Wi-Fi! Generous provision of soap and shower gel in dispensers.

Absolutely loved out stay! The cottage was ideal, and in a private, quiet location just outside Ripon centre. The cottage was spotless and had plenty of amenities and felt like a home from home. Mark was always contactable and offered plenty of advice and recommendations. We had an emergency with our dog before we came up and Mark even gave us the details for a local vet if we needed it. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a base in the Ripon area to both relax and explore.

We loved our stay and would definitely return. The house is in a great location within walking distance to centre and close to lots of lovely days out especially with my two children. The house was immaculate and has everything you need. The garden is wonderful and surroundings so peaceful.
Touches such as hanging areas in every room, board games, children’s books and plenty of lovely towels were lovely touches which make the difference.

We stayed as a family at little Harries cottage as we were at a family wedding, the cottage was beautiful and clean and the location was fantastic, beautiful peaceful surroundings but only 10 mins from everything.
Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying here. We will return.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well equipped and comfortable with luxurious bedrooms and big thick towels. Check in was easy and everything was spotlessly clean. Mark and Nikki were very responsive with excellent communication and obviously care that guests enjoy their stay. There were a couple of nice extra touches. Our girls (5 and 7) loved the games and books and we liked the basket of edible treats.
